Dreaming Amazonia

Brazz Dance Theater performed Dreaming Amazonia (DA) April 10th, 2009 at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. The work is
conceived & choreographed by Augusto Soledade which investigated the current state of the Amazon forest in Brazil to understand
it as a natural living environment for indigenous communities and to juxtapose it to the natural living environment for city dwellers.
DA focused on our relationships with various living environments with the potential to transform ourselves and our surroundings as
a result of our interaction with the world. DA had artists of various art forms and backgrounds. Cuban-American composer Orlando
Garcia created the original score to accompany the choreography and Polish video artist Jacek Kolasinski used video technology which
had the audience members interact with the work and echoed the strong transformation element present in the choreography.
